Top bar hives are a horizontal format for beekeeping based on the way they’ve been keeping bees in Africa for thousands of years. We make these hives ourselves, using Australian plans for the TBH which are shallower and sightly wider than the U.S. version. They feature a glass viewing window with removable cover. There are 32 frames and two follower boards. Bees enter through three holes in the middle of the hive. The top bar hives come fully assembled and treated with an organic decking oil (citrus, linseed oil, tung oil and beeswax). Legs may be removed for shipping.
